The by-laws of the JUAA, which came into effect on May 1, 2002, require that each year,
before the end of the fiscal year, the Board of Directors will invite nominations for the vacant
positions in the Board from the regular members in good standing. The Election Committee
now invites nominations from regular members for FOUR vacant Board of Directors positions
of the Association for 2009.
The current directors (2008) are listed below.
1. Madhumita Sircar, Civil, 1983 (President)
2. Samir Chakrabarti, Civil, 1967 (Vice President)
3. Merujyoti Ray, Civil, 2001 (Secretary)
4. Sushmita Mitra, Civil, 2001 (Joint Secretary)
5. Jayanta Nath, Instrumentation, 1998 (Treasurer)
6. Koushik Chanda, Electrical ,1991
7. Ranajoy Ray Chaudhuri, Economics, 1997
Elections need to be held for 4 positions, as four of the current board members, Madhumita Sircar, Sushmita Mitra, Koushik Chanda, and Ranajoy Ray Chaudhuri are leaving the office. We thank the departing board members for their
invaluable services over the past years.
The Board and the Election Officer invite you to participate in this election process. Please nominate up to two names from among the regular members to serve in the Board of Directors by October 31, 2008. You can even nominate yourself, if you are interested in serving the Association in the capacity of Director. While making your nominations, please make sure that the person(s) you nominate is willing to serve in that capacity for the full term of two years.
The Election Officer hopes to complete the election process before the Bijaya Sammelan of the JUAA scheduled to be held on Sunday, November 16, 2008, with the hope of announcing the names of the elected Board members during the Bijaya Sammelan. This will
enable the full complement of officers to take office on January 1, 2009. As you can well appreciate, your active participation is crucial in the success of this electronic election process as also to the well being and proper functioning of the JUAA.
