The meeting was chaired by Ms. Madhumita Sircar, the Vice President of the last board. The JUAA WMA Election Commissioner, Ms. Madhumita Datta, announced the names of the elected members of the new Board for the year 2008 and the outgoing President, Ms. Jayati Dasgupta, formally handed over the charges to the new Board.
The new board members are as follows:
- President: Madhumita Sircar
- Vice President: Samir Chakrabarti
- Treasurer: Jayanta Nath
- Joint Treasure: Ranajoy Ray Chaudhuri
- Secretary: Merujyoti Roy
- Joint Secretary: Sushmita Mitra
- Member at large: Koushik Chanda
To facilitate the functioning of the Board, the meeting confirmed the names of the following subcommittee functionaries.
- Newsletter Editor : Madhumita Datta & Koushik Chanda
- Election Commissioner: Madhumita Datta
- Accounting Subcommittee: Jayanta Nath, Ranajoy Ray Chaudhuri &
- Website Subcommittee: Debabrata Das, Koushik Chanda, Jayanta Nath
- Cultural Subcommittee: Tapash Ghosh
The Board of Trustees, which will be the moving force of the JUAA Community will comprise of the following members for the year starting 2008.

Madhumita Datta will continue with her position as the Newletter Editor and the Election Commissioner in this year. But, as she is planning to relocate to California anytime in 2008, she will brief up the responsibilities of Newletter Editor to our new board member, Koushik Chanda. The members in the meeting have decided that the position of Election Commissioner should be held by an individual outside the board. Upon selection of the new Election Commissioner, Madhumita Datta will handover and explain the responsibility of the aforesaid position.
A formal request to the Suntrust Bank will be made to transfer the JUAA WMA account authority from Jayati Dasgupta and Sudipta Sarkar to Madhumita Sircar, Jayanta Nath and Ranajoy Ray Chaudhuri in next 2 weeks. A copy of the organizational rules and regulations and the banking documents of JUAA WMA are presently with Sudipta Sarkar. Subsequently, these documents will be maintained by our new treasurer Jayanta Nath.
The fund raising effort conducted by the last board was very successful and helped achieving us the goal of $20,000 for the last year. The detail pledge request list is available at the “Google Doc” page and detail information is available with Debabrata Das and Sudipta Sarkar. To sum up the pledge effort, the total pledge received was $7211.00 and the total amount received till date is $6665.00. The present board will follow up the collection of the pending pledges as per the list. Debabrata Das and Sudipta Sarkar will send the letters containing the tax return information to the donors who have donated $200 or more as soon as possible. Also, similar fund raising effort will be made by the present board with the help of the senior members.
Madhumita Sircar and Merujyoti Roy are preparing an Event Planning List/Calendar for the new board. The preliminary draft copy has been circulated among the meeting attendee. As per the discussion in the meeting, a board meeting will be conducted every month to discuss the progress and planning of the JUAA WMA on a continuous basis. Upon completion of the Event List it will be made available in the JUAA WMA website. As per discussion in the meeting, June 7, 2008 has been decided as the preliminary date for the JUAA WMA Annual Picnic, which will be included in the Event List.
To enhance the website facilities, Debabrata Das will explore the different options available in Google for non profit organization such as JUAA WMA. Also, it is under discussion that an online pledge form to be made available to the donors with an option of Paypal payment.
Dilip Paul and Alakananda Paul, two senior members of our Alumni Chapter have expressed the experience of their recent Jadavpur University visit and also have presented their views regarding the “Needy Student and Campus Beautification Project”. The board will proceed or discuss on this issue following the joint decision made by the senior trustee members upon their return from Kolkata.
Also, membership fee has been collected from Dilip Paul, Alakananda Paul, Samir Chakrabarti and Ranajoy Ray Chaudhuri.
The next net meeting for the board members has been scheduled for Feb 12, 2008. The Meeting then ended with the Vote of Thanks.
