JU Brand: The new board is eager to propagate the name of Jadavpur University among the academic and professional communities through all the JU Alumni members.
Networking: The foremost objective on this regard will be the establishment of a strong Jadavpurian network from purely professional outlook. Several JU Groups are present in various networking sites such as Orkut, LinkedIn, Facebook, Yahoo groups, etc. Aparajita De is given the initial charge of creating profiles in each group and extract information of the Jadavpurians to help enhance our database. If RSS feed options are available, it will be enabled in our website to get all the relevant updates from others. Jayanta Nath and Souptik Datta will be responsible to reach out to all the local alumni members for their active participation in JUAA WMA events. Soutik Singha will create the flyer which will be used in this process.
Exchange Programs: Presently, the JUAA WMA has established exchange program between Jadavpur University and Northern Virginia Community College. The present board is interested in extending similar exchange programs with various other institutions (primarily research oriented) in USA, which will probably add more value to Jadavpur University. Jayanta Nath and Merujyoti Roy will initiate effort to find liaison for that cause in different institution (such as Johns Hopkins University, University of Maryland, etc.) with ex Jadavpurian as faculty.
Miscellaneous Services: The board is also planning to extend miscellaneous services to individuals (must be a JU Alumni/student). The services may include the followings:
-
Helping individuals seeking jobs in USA to create their Resumes.
-
Help newcomers in Washington Metropolitan area (both professionals/students) with airport pick up or temporary lodging with nominal charge, which will directly add up to the JUAA WMA fund.
-
Provide contact information of different Indian Student Associations/ International Student Associations of the American Universities to the prospective students planning higher education in USA.
-
Provide temporary financial help in the form of personal loans/JUAA WMA formal loans to the students, if necessary.
-
Provide various other specific information through email correspondence.
All the above services are in the planning stage now and the board will look forward to implement them in near future.
Professional Event: The board is also planning to organize black tie dinner events with external guests and keynote speakers as attendees. This will not only help establish the name of Jadavpur University in this region but will also help to establish the professional liaison between the individuals as required.
Database & Website: The board has decided to create an extensive database of all members across USA under two sections, namely Academics and Industry. The database will include member profile with their respective professional details. The website will be eventually updated to help any alumni to notify any position vacant/wanted in his/her organization. The website will be completely redesigned to incorporate all the features mentioned above.
